Blank

Today my mind is blank

The words do not come

But in the emptiness, I can hear

The babble of the brook

That runs behind my left ear

The couple on a walk

Underdressed in a way that

Amateurs are amongst the

Professionals of the peak

The quiet roar of an engine

10,000 feet above my right ear

Dislodging me from my comfort

And forcing me to sit with

Passengers in a long metal tube

The anxiety that builds

Brings me back to my breath

And the babble of the brook

Allows my mind to be

______
