Can You Sit

Can you sit in the darkness

Unable to see and still be at peace

When an unbearable cacophony fills your head

A thousand conversations playing all at once

Wait a while and the voices will leave

And you will be left with static

White noise that brings comfort

Stay for as long as you need, but please

Remember to return daily for in the doing

We are renewing our mind

Thoughts

I love the idea of meditation but the practice is something else. Have a go if you like. Sit down with your back straight and close your eyes. Don’t think about anything. See how long you last before the thoughts crowd in. Hard isn’t it? But they say if you keep doing it, eventually things will become clearer, less cluttered. I remain optimistic.

He was a good boy. The source of chaos and calm.
