Christmas

I once thought I would never hate Christmas

For it was the most wonderful time of the year

Obviously I loved it as a child

And as a young adult we would play games

That would have us rolling on the floor with laughter

But then one day a favoured guest couldn’t make it

And Christmas wasn’t the same

Later we lost another

Then another

Then another

Then we lost Christmas itself

And although I don’t hate Christmas

I can see why you might

For it will never be the same

In this season of peace to all

I hope you can find peace most of all
