Ecton Stable Cottage
The armed multitude press ever onward
towards the sky
bursting from the warm earth
fighting for space
straining up and out.
Flowing water soothes each breath
a murmur scattered between pages turned
drawing you in
deeper into the story.
Blankets bring hope
the chance to once again
touch the warm earth
inwards
outwards
upwards
to the sky
to the ground.

Thoughts
This is the first poem in my Daily Poetry series.
I was given a new fountain pen recently and decided I would start a daily practice of writing a poem. I gave myself a few rules:
- I would write everyday
- It would be no more than a page long
- Don’t judge in the moment. Write, then reflect.
In doing so I would gain a discipline and hopefully stretch myself creatively. The quality didn’t matter as I could always develop an idea latter if I wanted. Either way, the daily poem would stand on its own.
This poem was inspired by the view from a cottage in the Peak District.
