Every Day

Every day has felt

like an effort

to put pen to paper

and create something

good

That’s how it should be

They cannot all be winners

for how can we know the

good

if we never write the bad

How can we build

character and muscle memory

if every day is easy

We need something

to push against

Set our boundaries

and lean hard

against them

Thoughts

Part of this discipline is writing even when I don’t feel like it. I haven’t felt like it for about a week now but here we are. You have to commit to the process and hope that in the doing you are becoming better. We all have the words. Speak them out. Write them down. Do not let those negative voices win even when they are loud and vengeful.

Rodin must have produced some rubbish in his time. You don’t become great without making loads of mistakes. And he and Camille Claudel were great.
