I Cannot Remember
Although I cannot remember it
There was a time when
Everything did not ache
And in the forgetting my only
Regret is that I did not
Appreciate the lightness of
Being that I must have enjoyed
To be able to sneeze
Without fear or sleep on
A friends floor or economy
Airline seats for ten hours or more
Those were the days, my friend
But they did end
Not overnight or at a set time
But incrementally and even
Though we understood old people
Who sigh and groan we
Somehow saw that we
Could be exempt
And so we were, but
Only in mind as young as ever
But not in body
That creaks like leather

Thoughts
Yet another poem about getting older. Stop moaning Grandad!
Here we are freezing for hours in a line to get in to see Paul McCartney back in 2024. Nobody was moaning in that queue I can assure you.
