Lie
Do you remember as a child
That moment when you could
Lie and other children did not know
For they still believed in truth
Then you tried it on your parents
Or a teacher and the lie
Was exposed and you were undone
Weighed and found wanting
With other adults it worked
You could convince them with your
Tall tales, but it is only now
That you realise that they knew
All along and either didn’t care
Or wanted to give you a small victory
They could see you needed it
So how is it that the same
Boys become men and never
Leave behind these foolish ways
Speaking lies as though truth
And getting a boost when each one slips by
The people and the cabinet cheer
Some are fooled
Some are not
And the world looks on

This was his reaction to most of my artistic endeavours.
Can you share your perspective without sounding conceited?
