Time Travel
I’ve recently discovered that I can time travel
I know what you’re thinking
No, you can’t
But I can
And one day when you’re older
You will too
Lying in bed one night on my side
Eyes closed and mind clear
Suddenly I was eight years old
In the top bunk
And everything that was once so dear
Is within arms reach
Big Ted next to me on the pillow
With little Teddy One Eye and Shanks for support
Pre-war drawers and wardrobe stoic
Offering safe passage to other worlds
Toys and cars scattered below
And the feel of 70s wallpaper inches from my nose
Brother down the hall and
Father and mother within shouting distance
I try to call, but I know
They can no longer hear

Thoughts
The Yaksha in Bangkok stand ready to defend the Temple of the Emerald Buddha from evil spirits.
