You Wear It Well

You wear it well

Like an old cardigan

Worn in and fraying at the edges

You pledged at an early age

This, is how you would behave

And you carry yourself

With grace and patience

For those who come after you

Not knowing what they do

Holding your head high

Not cowed by the masses

The voices or the lashes

Impeccable to the last

You were our best

You were our everything

Thoughts

Another poem about aging and the grace that certain people do it with. When we are often presented with people at their worst, it is good to remember those who are the best of us. Those who inspire and lift us. Those who lead the way and show us how to be better.

A street in Barcelona.
