Taste of Sunshine

Can I offer you a taste of sunshine

In the darkness of winter

To lift your eyes heavenward

I know that even if the clouds

Cover the sky

The sun still shines

Even if the rain falls

The sun still shines

Even if the ground mourns

The sun still shines

If you can break free

And soar you will see beyond

The ordinary and into a future

That is happening now

It doesn’t negate your reality

But instead helps you to know

That it is only the lens through which you currently see

And on days like these, it’s an achievement to keep looking

Thoughts

Winter can feel like hard work in England. Dark, wet, cold, miserable. Yet we carry on. Today’s poem is about that particular British tendency.

This t-shirt is the same poem but better. Wish I was on that beach.
