Beach

Lying on this beach

My hands slowly sinking into the sand

And I am wearing the earth

Like a glove

Is this how I will feel

When finally I am reclaimed

Returned to my first home

Having only a vague sense

I hope that I am warm

And welcomed into the arms

Of long forgotten friends

How long have you waited?

Is it but an instant?

Are we all together now

And only think we are separated

By a veil through which

We cannot see

As the sea caresses my toes

I exhale

Thoughts

Another beach I must have been to but have no memory of. But the feeling remains. I once heard it said that you don’t remember what teachers at school taught you, you remember how they made you feel.
