Weariness
There is a weariness that
Hangs around your neck
That gains weight
With every passing day
You have worn it for so long
That you barely even notice
But if you could take it off
Oh the joy, the sense of relief
That you would feel
Freed you would float
Then fly and remember
That sense of awe and wonder
A return to innocence
Not childish but childlike
Seeing everything as a miracle
Even when times are hard
As they are for the birds
But how they sing
And how they soar
And how much more
Can you

Thoughts
What are we carrying without realising? What is oppressing us daily in tiny ways? Why are these walls closing in?
