Photograph

I’m looking at a photograph

From over forty years ago

And everything within it

Is either lost, destroyed or changed

The curtains and the furniture

The television and the chair

All have been discarded and

I wonder what is sitting there

The person that I used to be

Is standing right in front of me

But every aspect of that boy

Is lost, destroyed or changed

Important that I let him go

To free the man he hoped to be

For in a place within my heart

Their love will still remain

Thoughts

I have a picture of me playing guitar when I was ten years old in my Grandparents lounge. It inspired today’s poem. I look so happy.

It doesn’t seem right to share it at the moment so instead, here is a picture of some food from Bundobust in Leeds.
