A Thing Of Beauty

Nothing lasts forever

or so I have been told

One day this book will be

Cast aside, lost or damaged

It will return to the earth

as we all will

Do not be sad

Celebrate the joy of creation

and join with the miracle of life

Just as the sand mandala

is shaped by the master’s hand

only to be disrupted

so to are we

split apart by the trials of life

brought back and rebuilt

A thing of beauty

at every stage

Thoughts

I write everyday in a Hobonichi Cousin and it is very special to me but I recognise that one day, someone might pick it up in a charity shop and think it worthless. The creative work we do should bring joy whether or not it has any financial reward or any lasting legacy. That can be hard in such a success driven society. I hope that this encourages you to keep painting, writing, singing, dancing, potting; whatever it is that keeps you creating.

Nothing lasts forever, except maybe this giant heed! Probably still in the Louvre – Paris.
