You Never

You never once hated it?

Not even back in 1973?

or when the pandemic hit

or when consultations went

from paid to free?

Could it be true

or has time played a trick on you?

Does memory iron out the creases

leaving us with only the good

while decreasing the bad?

Soul destroying monotony

smothered by jollity?

Can it be true for me?

If I have eyes to see

You Never

Thoughts

Like so many previous poems, today’s is inspired by a quote from the Hobonichi Hon that I write in. It is from Yasue Omori at Ninety-One – ‘I never once hated becoming a doctor.’.

Do you feel the same about your career choice or were they an exception?
