All Change
Rubber soled feet
squeak on twisted tracks
attracting middle aged men
with a matter of fact attitude
that will lead
them into trouble
given half a chance
Canals changed our landscape
You could hear the complaints
from the chattering classes
when the train took the strain
we cut though mountains
to connect localities
now it is part of our history
our legacy
what will it be?

Thoughts
Change is inevitable and yet we fight it. It is one of our constants, along with death and taxes. How do we preserve the past while straining forward? Can we ever get to a place of satisfaction and if so how long can we stay there?
