With Remembrance

With remembrance

of the Maypole

may we dance

and intertwine ourselves

with colours of spring

and hope in the air

Let us share in the

joy of abandonment

to our pagan heritage

and connection to

Mother Earth

and all that she gives us

even when we regard her

with disdain and exploitation

Would we treat her better

if she were a man

or beat her more

because we can?

with remembrance

Thoughts

It’s funny how long forgotten memories return as they have been living abroad and never kept in touch. I remember dancing around the Maypole as a child. What an adventure that was and what a history that I was oblivious to.

I think this was Naples beach in Florida. Beautiful.
